Looks great, I'm looking for a similar project. How much did you pay for it prices seem all over the place?
It wasn't 'cheap' just under £3k but has a comprehensive service history, sub 100k miles and a lot of major stuff has been done. My aim is that any money I spend on it will add value as well as keep the car properly maintained.
Prices are all over the place and you really have to on condition, recognising some people will try it on but a mint one will be very pricey.

That looks lovely...what specifically needs doing. After rebuilding my steel grey one from an MOT faliure on multiple points with blown engine too at £1200 I can see that it is worth paying over £3k for a good one but even then the rear beam may need a rebuild and things like brake lines etc may still need doing.
I have spent over £2000 including the gti6 engine and I have a cmpletely rebuild rear beam and brakes, every part of the car will come off, be serviced and then repainted before a complete respray. My car will be as factory fresh and as standard as possible apart from the gti 6 engine and front brakes.

Luckily this one just needs a bit of tidying up and a bit of TLC on some of the usual issues. The interior in particular is in great condition.I have spent over £2000 including the gti6 engine and I have a cmpletely rebuild rear beam and brakes, every part of the car will come off, be serviced and then repainted before a complete respray. Brake lines have been done, engine has had some head work done, suspension all good, exterior trim has been refreshed with new parts etc etc
Bits needing attention are some very early stage corrosion at the base of the B pillars (surprise surprise) new coin holder (arrived in the post today), replacement boot mat and fastenings, couple of alloy scuffs, rocking horse drivers seat and a few other niggly bits like that.
It's not clear in the history when the clutch was last done and it's a little heavy plus I'll probbaly do cam belt and water pump for safety's sake. Other than that the main issue that needs sorting is the usual lumpy idle which also seems to be coupled to a sticking starter solenoid.
The solenoid bit I'm not convinced about though and there are a few other things around the ignition/starting I'll work through. The car has a history of frequent new starter motors which to me may suggest miss-diagnosis of the problem.
I can easily tot up £1k - £1.5k of spend, but if I do get carried away and end up doing more paint than the little bits of rust require (read re-spray) then it'll be heading much higher. It doesn't really need the paint doing though!
Enjoy!
If it's standard get the german side of it (injection) running right plus all the suspension. The beam will cost around £350 for a decent rebuild.
Keep it standard and your asset will only increase in value.
Although mine's not standard I paid £400 a few years back and now it's insured (agreed) for £5000.

I think I have a repaired drivers seat base in the garage plus I have a non lifting 2 van one that allows you to sit lower.
I'll give you a shout if needed if you are willing to part with those. In the first instance I'm going to see if a bit of tigntening here and there will sort it out. Having driven the car some more over the last week it's not too bad but quite an odd sensation having a slight rock forwards or back under braking/acceleration! Fatsterjack said:

No probs, let me know if you need it.Where are you based, I can do basic welds if you need it doing.
