I've had a real soft spot for the 250 Cup for some time now, but see prices are stubbornly higher. R26 F1s however are really cheap. So really I'm interested to hear from 250 owners, how good is the car and any people who have owned both this and the R26, is it really worth the extra as a second hand buy over an older F1 model?

The quality of the car, the drivability and comfort are all better on the 250 IMO.

The R26 is a good bet as you can pretty much only get one spec, so they are all priced on mileage/condition.

The 250 (IME) is VERY spec dependant. I wouldn't have one without Recaros, Cup and Visibility, but that's just me.

A boggo one won't be as popular as one with a few good options.

I would personally spend my own money on the 250 (with the above options!) smile

It’s pretty simple really, the 250 Cup is the better car.

Just depends if you want to shell out the extra for it.

250 Cup owner here but i came from a Clio 200.

I'd just like to add as well that so far the 250 has been bullet proof whereas the R26 and other Meganes in Mk2 form appear to have more "common" issues discussed on the relevant forums.

Fully agree. 16k miles with zero issues on my 265

24k on my 2.5 year old without any major issues.

I had a screen on the dash fail after a couple of months, but haven't seen anyone else with that issue. Mechanically it's been rock solid.

It will take a bit more time and miles before the 250 can be fairly judged against the R26 for reliability.

The 250 has already had issues with the well known engine rattle.

My R26 has covered 22k miles from new and never had any issues. Good cars do exist out there as do those with problems.

The more modern cars should be more reliable as quality processes will improve over time, but are likely to be more complex when they do go wrong.

I think that was mostly the early cars. I've not heard much about it since (and certainly not on the 265).

Mine's from September '10 and I haven't noticed it.

The Recaros did rattle though....
