Evening all,

Just bought a 205 GTi 1.6, and looking for a bit of advice from the PistonHeads knowledge bank. It could do with a decent service, so above and beyond belt / pump / plugs / oil / filters, is there anything I should put on the top of the list to get done? Any and all help is very welcome.

Thanks in advance, DP

If you haven't found the site already, have a look through & register on 205 Drivers smile

http://forum.205gtidrivers.com

Best site for everything 205 related & will have all the answers with regards to the usual questions, problems, etc, that will no doubt crop up during your ownership.

Had a quick look through there, some decent information, thanks. A quick question you may be able to answer, how do I find the engine code/spec so that I can fit the correct belts etc.? Cheers DP

Depending on where you are based I would recommend speaking to miles at pug racing, he is new forest way but can supply and or fit most things and knows pretty much everything about 205's. Also 205 nuts are a good source of bits.

Check the rear beam too as these often need a refurb, a guy in Wales does a fantastic exchange service and advertises on eBay, I have his details if you need them (pm me) I used one of his and it is better than factory fresh.

Yep still active smile

Sometimes if admin are away from the forum for a bit of time, new registrations are closed until they're back & can be processed smile

It took me a few months to get registered at first (a few years back) but was well worth it in the end smile

Same issue for me too. May be a great site/forum but no help if you can't fully access the resource.

Hopefully be sorted soon.

It has to be said, the registration(as it was a few months ago) is a little painful but it's great when you are in smile

I'm a team manager on 205gti drivers, Sorry for the delay in registrations. The site owner has closed registrations for a short while whilst we tidy up the site.
Under around 500 new registrations have been made and are waiting which are all processed manually.
The painful registration process is in place to eradicate those of a type who may not participate in a helpful and long running online community.
