KTEC remap for R26?
Discussion
Friend of mine has an R26 which is due for major service, belts etc soon. He is thinking of doing the remap at the same time and getting KTEC racing in Dorset to do their package. Anyone know if theyre any good or if there is someone as good/ better closer to London and any other tips. Cheers
The best place (according to loads of peeps) is Rs-Tuner in leeds http://www.rstuning.co.uk/
However, you can always by a box from Henrik at fastchip http://www.fastchip.nl/ which you just plug in and get stage 1. Loads of people have done this and it works really well and is cheaper that rs-tuning. You also get a box to read loads of bits and bobs from the car (diagnostics etc). Both will net you around the same BHP. 255-265.
If you want to go past stage 1 you need a new intercooler/air filter and a real rolling road remap at rstuning.
As for getting the belt done, speak to Fred at BTM performance, hes excellent and really really knows his stuff and is cheaper than k-tec. http://www.btmperformance.com/

K-Tec do good work on the belts, servicing and pricing so if you are there, a map at the same time is convenient.
Just get them to do a before and after power run so you can see the improvement.
I thought ktec was a bit of a no no, especially due the the SMF issue, and I have seen pics of 'work done' which is not good. Then general feeling on the megane sports forums is to avoid k-tec.Just get them to do a before and after power run so you can see the improvement.

K-Tec have a good enough reputation on ClioSport... it's just that they add 'K-Tec TAX' to most products meaning their prices are high.
I visited there last year for a splitter, Speedlines & Toyos and coilovers and was happy with the work. In fact for the Speedlines they were one of the cheapest companies to go for, always worth shopping around. Some places are good for some things, and others for others!

You not been on there for a while then lol? Their maps are getting a bit of stick at the moment, for well, being rubbish.
If you want something fancy on the mapping, then RS-Tuning is a better call.
RS-Tuning and K-Tec have had some amusing public ding dongs.

K-Tec's spanner work is very sound

basic Stage 1 or 2 type map is a safe bet.
I would sooner download a TomTom map of Belgium onto my ecu than something that Andy Cutler has created. Great mail order company, but employing the staff from the failed GDI for the mechanical side of things was a mistake imho.

It's all relative.

Lots of Megane engines have gone bang big time running RS-Tuning Stage 2 maps.
It's all relative.
Really? I only heard of one when I had mine done and Renault warrantied the engine so not obviously map related. It's all relative.

Many more than one and why does any warranty work automatically eliminate a failure due to a map?
It doesn't but this one had a terminal oil pump failure to ruin the engine - the map played no part.David
