So we done a deal tonight on a 12 plate 207 1.6HDI. The dealer chucked in 2 years servicing and the first MOT as part of the deal.

On the test drive there was a bit of smoke on idle and on acceleration but this cleared after a quick fuel stop and a wee run down the motorway at ~60-70mph.

It's done 13k which i guess is a little over average for the year but not excessive.

Has a decent level of equipment. It's the 'Active' model and it bright white, has bluetooth, USB audio, little shifty up indicator thingy and pulls well.

Due to pick it up tomorrow but was wondering if any of le PH have one and care to pass comment on how they are?

This will be the 5th Peugeot we've had with previous models being a 206 1.2 basic thing, a 206GTi, a 307 and a 407. All of which being fairly faultless with the exception of the GTi killing an injector but it did take some abuse.

I'm sure it's been a fleet car it it's infancy though so hopefully nothing to worry about there in terms of short journeys or whatever.

The wife has never owned a diesel - shall we run a book on how long it takes for her to fill it with petrol?

Good idea, you could put any profits towards the inevitable rectification costs!

There's a plan.

With this comes the almost certainty of an M5 / new bike. She didn't honestly think it would go this smoothly, did she? wink

fk me,the engine is the most unreliable thing about these days, even after the 2008 update.Turbo here, turbo there, turbo's fked everywhere.
Just google 1.6 hdi, forum after forum of turbo failures and suggestions of how to avoid it happening.
So no, not trying to piss people off, just being realistic.
Nice enough car, better if it were a petrol.

Sort the issues once and keep up with oil changes.

The issues are due to carbon build up because of the silly 20k service intervals.

Turbo kits on ebay are the right side of £300

I'll check the service history but might just organise an oil change for piece of mind.
