Steering rack for a Peugeot 206 1.4

I might been a steering rack for my sons car, when you drive it and turn the steering doesn't auto centre again. The garage have checked everything and think it can only be the pump or rack, they are leaning towards the rack as the pump 'seems' ok.
As its a fairly old car I don't really want to buy a brand new one, I've found a chap on eBay who sells them but for the 1.6 CC model and up. I've spoken to him and he says he doesn't see why it wouldn't fit a 1.4 Petrol but he can't guarantee it. He says the 1.6 CC, GTI and 180 all use the same rack so it would be odd if they didn't use it for all models?
So, does anyone know if a steering rack for a 1.6 206 would fit the 1.4?
