Citroen C2 Slack Gearstick

A friends C2 has now developed it's eleventy-billionth fault (and they still won't get rid of it).

You can now draw a circle with the gearstick - theres nothing there to stop it's movement and only 4th and reverse can be engaged.

Has anyone got experience with this? Trying to find some tech drawings etc of the gear linkage etc but the Citroen forums don't seem as busy as the VW/BMW forums I frequent.

personally ive never had that, i had my C2 for over three years and nothing went wrong. i think the gearbox works with something to do with a cable as i know you cant get a short shift kit for it, has it been to a garage yet?

Not been to a garage, every time it's in it costs them hundreds so they're reluctant to go again having just spent hundreds on it last month - said I'd take a look but won't be free for another week (their car isn't needed day to day) and wanted to be prepared/try to gather the likely parts needed, spannering is fun!
