182s - what exhaust are you using?
Discussion
Morning!
Short version: what exhaust are you all using? What are it's pros and cons?
Longer version:
Still got the original exhaust on my 7 year old, 66k miles 182.
Evidence would suggest it's had a good run
It's blowing a bit again and it's probably getting close to the stage where I'm as well getting a new exhaust, as the current one will pop a hole in itself quite often from now on.
Cat and silencers are still fine by all accounts.
I'll probably weld the hole one last time and then set cash aside for a new zorrssst.
What should that be?
Preferably as close to standard noise as possible, but it would seem the Renault exhausts are a fair whack more expensive than offerings from K-Tec and the like.
I'm a bit wary of reading the advice on other forums about this, as I think there will be loads of opinions coming from the direction of "louder and raspier the better" kind of thing.
I'm just looking for a good exhaust that will last another 7 years and won't annoy my neighbours any more than mine does at present (which is, of course, not at all )

Oh, never clocked those gems of info before! There's only info for a couple of them, that I can see, but still useful for comparison purposes.
I've seen a few relative comparisons on other forums (eg about the Bedford noise tests) but I'd still appreciate the views of PHers who perhaps value subtlety over raspiness as I do
Any idea what the standard levels are? My googling has been unsuccessful in this regard.

Seems to be pretty close to what I'm after.
Definitely not along the lines of this:

Scorpion RS192, all reports say it's the quietest aftermarket you can get, still louder than standard though. Some people say they have real problems fitting it, I'm not going to pretend it was really easy but it definitely wasn't as difficult as some people have claimed. It did take some brute force to get it sitting correctly though.
I went to ProSpeed Exhausts in Cardiff.
Extremely happy with the quality and you can even choose your noise - check the website out but make sure you also give them a ring and have a chat to Charlie.
In comparison to standard it looked 10 times better and was hardly noticeable in sound difference. Since then I've gone down the de-cat route (for breathing purposes) and that is loud, but whatever you choose - ProSpeed / K-Tec / RS192 / Miltek - I'm sure you'll be happy, and if not it will be easy to move it along on the ClioSport.net forum.

I'm still on the original exhaust ('05 182, 66K miles). I've been thinking about a new system, (specifically K Tec's stainless system). I do have to keep reminding myself the car was only bought for a bit of fun for a year or so, and the original still is going strong - seems a bit pointless to swap it until it actually falls off.
Further welding/repair is not a feasible option on the original system, so it's definitely new exhaust time now.
300 miles to Prospeed in Cardiff, perhaps a bit of a stretch to drive that far... could make a weekend of out it though
Scorpion RS192, cat-back, is looking the favourite just now @ £350.00 for the parts on eBay.
Might even have it on in the next week or so.
Then a 72,000 miler service soon, and the car's on pretty much brand new discs, pads, springs, shocks, already.
Surely worth about £5k

I have a powerflow cat-back system on my Trophy (fitted by the previous owner)and it is utterly ridiculous under load. Sounds incredible for a 4 pot but can be heard from miles away (or so I am told).
The build quality is horrendous though. It developed a rattle (inner section of tailpipe came loose) which ended up getting solved with a simple screw and last summer it started blowing despite only being a couple of years old. When the car comes out for its MOT this summer I'll have to get it repaired. Not buying a new exhaust for a car I barely use.
