Anybody own or ran a petrol 308. Looking to change 'er indoors Focus and 308s seem quite keenly priced. We're looking at 2008 cars at around £5000.
I'm not to worried about the doom merchants as I had a 407 coupe for 3 years, which was faultless. I just like to know if there is anything in particular to look out for.

Personally I'd go for a diesel but if it had to be a petrol I'd look at the 1.6 Sport. The 1.4 just feels a little gutless for it.

It has to be a petrol as its used for short journeys around town. I can't seem to find any serious issues on the net which is encouraging

No, the 308 is on the whole very well put together, it just suffers from the 307's bad reputation. Combine that with the fact that there were a lot sold to the rental market and you can see why you get quite a good deal second hand.

One of my neighours has had a 308 SW for a few months now, I've had a couple of lifts in it.

A little bit less refined than I expected but they're happy with it so far.

Probably a little bit noisier seeing as it's a diesel estate, mind.
