Peugeot 206 Coolant Loss

Have a 206 1.4 petrol 2003, heard some noises from the heater so checked the coolant tank and there was a little water in the bottom. So filled up took about 1ltr ran car and couldn't see any leaks, oil is clear coolant tank was abit mucky inside but no mayo. Checked exhaust but its not smoking/steaming. Left over night and the coolant has dropped about 1" started fine no smoke etc.
Have check all the obvious hoses rad etc did a quick check inside and looks dry, road under engine was dry but wet around wheels cos of ice on car. Only thing I haven't checked up close is water pump (but looking at its location id except to see it dripping from underneath), or wether a pipe behind the engine is leaking and running down to wheel area so I can't see it.
Anyone got any ideas?
