206 Head light problem (Her French money pit)

Posting a query in the hope there is a quick fix.
SWMBO Peugeot 206 headlight has been out for a few days so decided to change the head light bulb. Done this and still doesn't work. Side light bulb is also out however I havn't changed that. Checked for 12v at the bulb connector and have no power. However just as I was about to give up I put full beam on and this works
So far over the last 6 months the mechanic has had to change the radiator, rear shocks, rear axle, brake discs/pads, brake lines, new exhaust and further back the head gasket.

edit. She can't find the owners hand book so after a bit of google searching I see the full and dipped beams are through separate fuses. First thing I'll check when she gets in from work.
