Peugeot wiring diagrams

After attempting to install a new loom in my '94 106 I realised how usless the Peugeot wiring diagrams are! They are all greyscale and have no useful keys to relate to wires. The Haynes manual has a key on the side of the diagrams but nothing that relates to it on the actual diagram!
Searching on the internet and owners clubs doesnt throw up anything else of much use. It seems Peugeot have the colour diagrams but don't want customers to see them!
Are all Peugeot diagrams like this or have they got better with newer models?
