I let all the brake fluid escape out of my megane while I had the brake calipers off. Now I've put it back together and put new fluid in and bled the brakes but the pedal has long travel and spongey feel.

I've tried bleeding several times with a pressure bleeder and tried driving car and locking up wheels to activate abs in a hope to remove the air that I suspect is stuck in the abs pump? But still have spongey pedal and weak brakes.

Do you think I'm right in thinking the problem is air in the abs pump? How can I get the air out?

Thanks.

It certainly could be air in the pump and the only surefire way of getting it all out is to activate the ABS while bleeding with CLIP (Renault) or an RS tuner (Fastchip) with the ABS module.

So without taking the car to a renault dealer I'm pretty stuck I guess?
I see on the renault website they're doing brake fluid change for £39 maybe I should take the car to them for a fluid change and they will use that clip thing to clear the air from the abs and then I can change they're stty fluid out and put my own stuff in later.

Is there not a way I can bridge 2 wires together on the ecu to get the abs pump working? The car is a 2009 megane r26.r

Yep about 10 times, pushing a litre of fluid through each time in rl rr fl fr pattern.
