Hi looking to buy a Clio 200 59 plate with about 44k on the clock.

Its cheap and i assume part of this is cause it never had the 36k service. it had 2 renault services last one at 24k

Now if i bought the car then i would get it serviced straight away but would this put you off buying the car? not looked after etc ?

cheers

IIRC the 200's have different service intervals.

I think it's 24 month/12.000 miles.

197 was 12 month/12.000 miles.

That don't add up, it's still missing service yes.

If they have the same service interval as the Megane 250 then it's every 2 years or 12k miles.

Sounds like it's definitely missed a service.

Depends on the state of the car really. I'd be less concerned about the 3rd year service to be honest - it's not like it's an old Clio that's missed a belt change - that's the more worrying one.

I guess it might make it harder to sell when you're done with it, but so long as it gets some servicing under your ownership then I can't see it being that much of a problem - it's not like it's under warrantee anymore anyway!

I'm sure 197 is 24 months or 12000 miles (or when the computer decides you need one!)

If it looks otherwise decent, and is cheaper, it wouldn't necessarily put me off.

It has gone 20k without an oil change though, and it should've been 8k ago.

Agreed, it is not a major service, so do it when you buy it. It is 24 months or 12k miles, which ever comes first.

Plenty of them......why buy one which has missed the service?
