hi guys and girls

just bought a renault clio 1.4 16v hatchback and wondered if there was any worthwhile mods to try and get it shifting along a bit better, guessing a filter and exhaust for starters but anyone got any recommendations for parts??

it's only going to be a runabout for a few months while i finish paying off some bills to free up some cash to get back into a proper performance car again so dont want to spend loads of money on it.

cheers in advance

Stephen, some so called performance filters can actually restrict performance and the same can be said for exhausts unless you spend £££££££'s and put it with a manifold and downpipe etc, lots of money. Giving the car a bloody good full service and proper tune-up and recommended re-map should give you the best results in my opinion. Over the years i've wasted money on filters and other crap that look ok and sound fast but really dont work. A well maintained engine and a decent re-map work best.

I would suggest instead of spending money trying to make a 1.4 Clio go faster, especially when you only intend keeping it a few months, you use that money to pay off your other bills a bit quicker, or put it towards your next purchase. Whatever you spend will be lost, you'll never see that money back.
