Taking the mother in-law to see this car tomorrow morning:

I've bought and sold numerous old shape Clios but never had any dealings with the newer shape. They look like a nice car and at £5,000 this one's good value. Does anybody know much about the new 'TCE' (Turbo controlled efficiency) smaller engines? Any experiences? She'd be buying this car on my approval so I don't want to point her in the direction of something with inherent problems. I'll do some internet research of course, it would just be handy to know if anyone on here is familiar with them and these particular engines.
Cheers

We now have 3 Clios in the household. My daughter has a 2007 1.2 8v not a turbo. It has done 29,000 miles with service history and one previous owner. Can't say I'm impressed. Gear change reminds me of a 1986 Peugeot 205. Quality is not good, quite a few squeaks rattles and knocks. Very slow compared to a Punto 1.2 8v we also run (2003). Clutch judders when it feels like it, some days it perfect others not. It is what it is, a cheap hatchback. On the plus side, its economical and on the motorway is quite comfy. Considering the price new for the model you are looking at, it doesn't look too bad. If I weare considering buying it, I would offer the full price but get another years warranty included in the price. A new clutch from Renault supplied and fitted for a 1.2 Clio is £1200.

if you were to pay that for around 4 hours work then you'd be mad!that is vastly overpriced for a 1.2!
Orpington Renault quoted that last week. Did offer a discounted price of £1100, lucky old me. This is for a 2007 basic Clio. Didn't get it done just got a quote as the clutch was juddering every now and then, stopped doing it now !Gassing Station | French Bred | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
