I have a Renault sport Clio 172.

I currently have an issue with an abs light being illuminated. I think this is something to do with a sensor and should hopefully be having a look at it tomorrow.

I have noticed though that regardless of wether the fault has occurred or not, when I press the brake pedal during a journey the dash light flickers on for the rear fog light.

Does anyone have any idea how I go about looking into why this happens?

Probably a bad earth at the rear light cluster.

Yep, earth in the rear lights. Had this happen in my DCi Clio too, mostly when it had been damp.

Thank you.

Do you think this issue could be the cause of a fault that illuminated the ABS and SERV lights?

Could do, abs will see brake application via brake switch as well as pressure increase in system, if the two dont match, ie pressure rise with no apparent pedal pressure because of faulty bulbs, voltage feedback due to earth problems etc then warning light will come on. Even if you solve the problem you may find that you need to get the fault cleared from the ecu before the light goes off.
