Renault scenic egr valve
Discussion
Bit of a vague one. My grandad has described lack of power with his Scenic 1.5dci. A quick google suggests the egr valve is fubar'd it's been to the local stealers to get it looked at. The mechanic cleaned it out but it hasn't made a difference.
I take it this means the valve is fubar'd? The stealers are also quoting 270 for a new one fitted, where as a quick google again says the part is around 80ish.
Is it as simple as this or could there be other issues?

What year is the car? another problem can be the turbo hose splits. £80 is a good price, I paid £110 for one for my wife's Clio 1.5DCi, It's about a 15-20 minutes job to change and it did make a difference. You could try giving the car a bit of welly first to see if that helps as they do tend to clog up if they are driven sedately all the time.
BTW the mechanic at the dealers could have tested it with a code reader to see if the valve was knackered.

Just get it removed and bypassed.
It's my grandads and he doesn't like the idea of the eml staying on. And thus failing motsI know the Renault's a bit more complex, but can't see why someone couldn't do the same. Drives better without it too, just runs smoother at regular speeds.
