I have a 1999 RED 306 Rallye and thinking of selling. The question is basically do I sell or are these worth keeping hold of now as they become more rare?

Details are:

Car has 72,000 miles, a years MOT and Tax until April 2013. Paint work is very tidy as too is the interior. The only modifications are an aftermarket air filter and a Blaupunkt DAB Radio/CD. It has 4 matching Avon tyres and new disks & pads all round.
Negatives are the paint on the sills and mirrors (the plastic bits) has gone a little pink and the drivers bolster is thread bare. The wheels need a refurb too.

The problem I have is I do love driving it but it really is surplus to requirements. Storage is the biggest issue as I have no room in the garage and leaving it outside over the winter months is not ideal.

So do I let it go and what kind of price would it fetch? Or do I keep it, get the wheels etc done and the other bits and bring it up to a 9/10 car and make room in the garage because it will only go up in value?

It's probably a number of years before it'll appreciate if at all: it's only in the last year really that 205 prices have risen and it's just good condition gtis that have done that. 306 is about a decade further on so I'd reckon a decade of remaining cheap.

If it's a good car why not keep it and use it as intended (use my 205s in summer and don't always hold back when driving them)

Thanks for posting. You have really confirmed my own thinking. It is a cracking car but not really up to the 1-200 miles I can do in a day in & around London! My daily milage was down at about 30 a day when I bought the car. It is also very much out on a limb when it comes to parking.

RESULT - The car made £1,850.00 on Ebay. Fortunately the auction ran when PH did the 306 GTi-6 as Shed of the Week a couple of weeks back which boosted views/watchers by a huge amount. Don't know if it helped the bids but hey! The car only cost me £1,150 and about £300 on getting bits & peices sorted so made a few beer tokens too!

Still sad to see it go but I know it has gone to a proper enthusiast.
