Righty,

After 10,000 miles of relatively incident free motoring my little 182 is in need of a new exhaust from the cat back.

Got a lot of corrosion at various joints, just had a local garage weld up the one that was blowing but its only a matter of time!

I am aware that this is unlikely to be cheap.

Can anyone recommend an exhaust option that is as close to standard as possible but perhaps not the full whack Renault price? I'd like to avoid the super-cheap systems you sometimes see bouncing around on their mounts or anything even remotely boy racer. Wrong side of 30 means I'd feel a tool in a decated Janspeed effort...

And any recommended Garages anywhere near Bristol also recommended!

thoughts chaps?

You should be able to negotiate a hefty discount on the standard exhaust if you want to stick with Renault.

K-Tec in Verwood, Dorset are very good. I bought the KTec Supersport exhaust and it is great. A bit louder than standard but still acceptable. So much cheaper than the Renault main stealer.

Really?

You know I hadn't even thought of bothering to ask but might as well get a price.

Do you know something? Are they sitting on stock or something?

I've just been through a similar thing - needed to change the exhaust but didn't want anything more noisy or the hassle of having to declare to the insurance if I bought a milltek or something like that.

Look on ebay, there is a dealer doing OEM exhausts for about £500 for both parts. I was already having some work done at my usual dealer so I asked them to match that price.

OEM exhaust is a rip off and will just rot again. There's no need to spend much, I got a pretty much brand new KTR Ultra Exhaust from Cliosport with Decat and CAT for £200. Its got a nice sound and is much better quality than OEM.

I know I know OEM is not value outright but I just want to keep the OEM look and sound. Its a great car and puts a grin on my face everytime I drive it, but I already feel like I am growing out of it and keep glancing the classifieds for fast estates. Getting old...

The quietest I know of is ironically a Janspeed laugh

The supersport with the centre silencer is very near standard, measured 84db at trackday noise tests.
