Hi all

I need to replace the front brakes on my Clio, I have seen a pair of Mintex discs and pads for £65. Are these as good/better/not as good than the standard Renault ones? I am perfectly happy with the standard brakes but Renault charge a fortune for them.

Cheers

I tried those cheap Ebay Mintex discs & pads on my ST220... even worse brake fade than the Ford ones.

+1 for brembo HC discs. They are the same good quality as the OE discs but cost less.

I'd add that the DS2500s aren't cheap so you could pick something different but I'd never experienced braking performance (in my own car) like the setup above. I let mates drive it and even with partial pressure on the brakes they thought they were amazing... Until I told them to brake properly with full pressure! biggrin

Yup, did a trackday at Cadwell last week and there was no fade whatsoever

The brakes on the RS Clio are excellent anyway so the oem pads will be superb with those discs. I'd urge you to spend the extra £40 though if you feel that you would benefit from the extra braking performance.

Next time you are scheduled to change your brake fluid then do the hoses and better fluid then.

Hello again

Due to a cock up, I need to buy the brakes tomorrow or get them delivered by Weds at the latest so looking at Euro car parts, I can get some Pagid discs, anyone experienced them at all?

Thanks

I tried Pagid pads on a Supra at a Donington trackday, they faded and caught fire.
