Hello
Looking for some cost predictions ! difficult I know but bear with me,

A dealer near me has had one for sale for several months, i managed to track down the previous owner and speak with him

Let's say it got these faults, to get the car right what would i need to spend

Cambelt and the other one that makes a racket, sorry forgotten the name
Engine Mounting
Loose, rattling exhaust, (kept breaking)
Steering wheel refurb
4 decent tyres recommendations please

Thanks in advance

Great choice, I love mine! Cracking cars the 172 Cups, but many are owned by chavs and get neglected!

1) Provided it's a Cup without aircon (which is most likely...), the cambelt will be £275ish from a specialist. The thing that makes 'a racket' will most likely be the dephaser, I believe it's £155 for the part. So lets say cambelt, aux belt, and dephaser from a specialist - £600 max all in.

2)Engine mount, if it's upper, maybe £80 plus fitting (that's a guess and I'm happy to be corrected by someone with more knowledge....) They may just need adjusting, so half hours labour or do it yourself....

3)The exhaust is probably just a mount, or needs adjusting. £30 tops I'd say!

4)The steering wheels 'melt' on all of them. I wet-and-dried mine, which has sorted it. It's not an essential job at te end of the day. If you're fussy get it retrimmed, at about £150....

5)Toyo T1R's for about £210 fitted.....

Can't believe a dealer is selling a car that needs all that! If it's been there months you may get away with a cheeky offer.

Just clicked on your profile and seen your location. Have a look at www.519automotive.co.uk . Danny is in Bedford, and is one of the Gods of these cars, so give him a ring and get a quote.

Thanks Hollywood I am also looking at a few privates to see if their to-do list is shorter. As for dealers, you get some that want to ensure their cars are fully sorted and those that don't ! just like in all walks of life !
