Hi- just purchased a C2 VTR 1.6 , I was just wondering if any body else found the brakes to be really sensitive and nippy...

I find the breaks so light and spongy....

Any advice?

What did u have previously?

Difference between my 5 gtt and Clio is mad.

Brakes on the 5 are like sponges (I like to call it progressive!) and the clio is just on or off in comparison.

Hope that helps

Just to add on my saxo vtr with discs all round it was very much like u describe. If ur last car had drums on back probably why it feels like that.

Lol @ Sports Car biggrin

The brakes are just over-servoed like 90% of modern cars. You could fit a bigger diameter pistoned master cylinder to alter the piston ratio, or you could put a pipe clamp on the hose from the intake to the servo to reduce the vacuum (though I'm officially suggesting you DON'T mess with your braking system!) but otherwise you'll have to lump it or buy an older car.

1-all modern cars have brakes like this, you'll get used to it

2-just try to touch the brake and than progressively apply a little pressure,as i said its a temporary thing cause you'll get used to it in a month or so

Thanks guys- iv drove it around a little and I'm getting a little used to it...

Brakes are still feeling spongy!! And I initially thought it was something to do with air hoping I could get it sorted..

But a guy at the gym also told me that I will get used to it...

It's abit of a boy racer car in my opinion and I think I need to start wearing my joggers & trainers instead of my dresses and heels!

Might have to buy a cap too to go with the image (NOT) !!

Will keep it for a while till I get bored...

Why don't you do a readers car thread about it? I do think there is a slight image problem with the car but where I live it just tends to be women driving them rather than chavs.

It's def got an image prob- depends on 2 factors . A )where you live & B) what kit abd modifications are on.

I put the picture on fb and got a mixed response.. One being "it's a Dream Car"- for a 17 year old trying to impress a girl and another being love the car- def a rare one like that driving about here...

Who cares I like it so what does it matter... Was going to go for an Ibiza at first as iv read good reviews especially in terms of reliability...

Plenty of time to be reliable and sensible in the future...

I removed the big aftermarket spoiler my car had on it as that didn't help things. hehe

Mmmm what a difference can a spoiler make!! Personally I think it looks alot better now.. Is your tinted out? Also has your got 2 seats at the back? And have all the VTR's got 2 seats at the back?

Loving the lever to put the seat up.. For once I don't need to put a cushion lol.

No the windows are standard, mines the furio but every C2 only has two back seats regardless of model.

I had a lot of fun driving that yesterday!!! These are some points I picked up on that I hate.

When I start reversing the car moves forward a little ( not good if the car in front is close- what does one do!) 2) in traffic on a hill same thing but opposite way I'm rolling a little but even
If I give more gas i have to be extreamly mindful of the car in front. 3) turning the car isn't the best ! There's a little jump and not as smooth and 4) the car is not the best on speed humps...

Overall I love the drive it feels like a toy!! And getting used to
The brakes - though iv been told its new brakes and first 100 miles will be like that..

I am really happy with the car... And looks good too... Just hope it dosnt let me down!

It shouldn't, I've had mine for just over 2 years and the only thing that went wrong was the fuel line popped off the engine when driving, luckily it just clips back on.

His a diamond... But he smells of fire at times lol I'm getting used to the brakes now.. But you can't turn as fast on the auto mode as iv noticed delays at times... I think I need to learn to use the Paddle shift now.. don't have the foggiest!! But it can't be rocket science ...

Petrols fine on this car... Not expensive to run at all ... I do find the extreamly light.. Infact this Is like a toy!!
