Hello,

My mum bought a 2007 Citroen C4 VTR 1.6D in 2009 with around 17k miles on the clock.

She had it for just about a year when it went back to the Citroen Main Dealer where she bought it from for its Service and MOT only to be told that the brakes were dangerously rusty and needed replacing. I can't recall the exact amount, but it wasn't cheap. Of course she wasn't happy about it and thought she had been scammed etc etc.

Anyway, they called up a few weeks in advance this year to book the car in for its MOT and Service. Being a main dealer she trusted them and agreed for it to go in today. I'm away at the moment so can't inspect, but AGAIN this year they have replaced the disks and pads! Last time i checked a month or so back, the car had 34k on the clock so its not as if they are seeing much action, but enough to keep them clean and in good shape.

This IS NOT normal for cars! Her last car had the disks and pads changed once on her last car over 6 years and my dads car has only been changed 2 or 3 times over the last 120k miles!

SO, is she being scammed by the Dealer or do these cars have brake issues.

Other than the TERRIBLE build quality its quite a nice car. But it's cost a small fortune to keep over the last 3 years.

our lads got a 2005 VTR 1.6 petrol and had the radiator fall apart, sticky brakes, exhaust rattle/squeak, the glovebox cant be opened, it doesnt sound much but its bloody annoying, then someone boots in both rear quarter panels and both front doors for fun (but is arrested for it) and we await his decision on handing cash over to cover costs or the lad looks set to lose his precious 2 years NCB (car will be written off if going thru insurers)
