Anyone have any idea why a 106 S2 1.6 8v Rallye would be higher insurance than the 16V GTI?
I would have though the insurance would've been closer to a Saxo Vtr?
Ideas?

No abs?

This is apparently the reason a Clio 172 cup costs a more to insure than a standard Clio 172.

No abs, more crashed = higher risk on that particular model of car.

I have just bought a 106 Rallye. Was getting insurance quotes before going ahead, using a well known insurer for modified cars. When getting a quote for one valued at £1800 the insurance was about £500, when my plans changed and I bought a cheaper car valued at £1000, the insurance went up to a £1000!

After questioning them about this they essentially said that because it was cheaper I was more likely to crash it! May be worth considering this when getting your quote.

I eventually insured mine elsewhere for £450.
