My friends passenger window decided yesterday that it wasn't going to go up after being put down, what with the nice weather and all.

After removing the door card and cutting through the sound deadening we managed to re-attach it to the rubber bung bit at the bottom of the pane, but at the same time it pulled the grey plastic guide off the top of the glass in the frame on the left hand side (if sitting in the car and looking out).

We can see that if we are to re-fit the pane properly we need to seat the grey plastic clip in place in the frame but don't seem to be able to do this unless we remove the inside window seal running up the door frame...

Anybody know how we might go about this?

They are a pain in the butt!! Its very difficult to describe, the clip slots into the rubber to stop the glass tipping when operated.Pull the rubber out of the frame, peel it back and have a look at the way the grey plastic bit locates inside? Then clip it to the glass, locate it in the rubber while getting it all in the door frame!!!scream?? This will take some time to master but study it all and you will realise how it works. I have often super glued the clip to the glass as they often fall off,but if you do that make sure its the right way round.

Back in the day, when I got my hands dirty doing these sorts of things, I had two ways of doing them.

1. Slide the clip into the felt channel, and using a small thin screwdriver hold it in line with the hole in the glass. Tip the glass backwards towards the clip ensuring the front edge goes into it's channel correctly, than a stern push will click it into place.

2. Click the clip onto the glass, pulle the rubber/felt channel out on the rear edge of the door. Put the glass and clip into the channel (partially removing it opens it up) and then push the glass and channel back together into the door frame.

Both are simple, but a bit fiddly the first few times (I must have replaced dozens in the 10 years I was fitting)
