Laguna EGR Valve issues

I have a 2003 1.9 dieselly weasely, engine light has been flickering on and off on longer journey's, had the coil pack replaced at last service which cured it for a while but it has come back recently. Read online a lot about sticking EGR valve's, so I have replaced that this afternoon.

Engine light is now on permanently now, however car runs fine and is returning better mpg than before, is the car just throwing a hissy fit because of the new valve?

Have also read about some owners replacing the EGR sensor, any suggestions welcome.

I think it's time to find a new garage.
