Citroen C6 funny noise help?

Guys anybody have experience of C6s?
I went to look at one today all seemed well some good points and bad points but at one point when we were driving at around 60Mph there was a strange noise.
Was electrical like a whirling mortor type noise but with added mechanical clicks sounded like cogs slipping.
Lasted about 10 seconds and was very loud.
My imediate thought was teh spoiler which comes up at a certain speed. Anybody know what speed it comes up? if it wasnt that any ideas what it could be.
I would like to buy the car but dont fancy a huge bill to fix whatever it is.

It could have been susspension. I have heard those make noises before (in fact my mrs bus does) but there was added clicking/cluncking.
Ive found out the spoiler partially deploys at 40mph so could have been that. Have walked away. Just have this feeling a big bill is on teh way.
