Renault Grand scenic rear sun blind fault

Hi,
I've got a 2009 Grand Scenic. The sun blind in the rear window won't retract. Renault want £50 just to take the trim off and have a look - is there a better way around this?
The blind had never been used, it was just that one of my kids decided to pull on it and that's when I realised it wouldn't go back.
Can a local garage just strip it down and wind the blind back in/is this a known fault (I wonder if something has just come undone in the return mechanism).
