Just got a c5 2.2 diesel but the acceleration is dire using the accelerator.
Joining the motorway with foot on carpet it's stuggling with 60mph, stick the cruise on and it pulls like a train though.
I've noticed there's a lot of play in the accelerator pedal it hangs a lot lower than the clutch/brake, could it be a worn spring not holding pedal in correct position?

Is that a main dealer job or sort of thing local garage would be able to do?

Sounds as though the pedal needs adjusting. It may be cable operated, in which case there will be an adjuster at one end or other of the cable. If it's "fly-by-wire" it may be a dealer job.

Silly question: you haven't got floor mats which are limiting pedal travel?

Thanks for the replys.
My first thought was floor mats it was when checking them i noticed the pedal was lower than the others.
I'm not sure if it's got a cable or it's fly by wire, it's a y reg 2.2 hdi c5.

Under bonnet picture will help or get someone to watch the fuel pump while you rev it to see if anything moves.

The cable runs along the back of the engine, the potentiometer is to the right of the rocker cover and just below the plastic box that contains the electronics. The cable has a plastic serrated bit with a metal clip .
As I said a git to get at ,but if I can adjust one anyone can .

Cable sounds like its slacker than a wes knicker elastic.

Get it tightened, it'll be a different car

Ive got a Citroen C5, its not the quickest of cars to 60 due to the weight... You'll get to 60 without feeling the bumps mind smile

I had this exact problem with a 2005 c5 2.0 diesel, bought it from a dealer and drive it 65 miles and you had to put the pedal right to the floor to get to about 60-70mph,and it took ages!
When i got home i read about the accelerator cables stretching on these, thats exactly what it was! It was 'really' easy to do, end of accelerator cable was easy to get to in the engine bay, very easy to adjust and take up the slack.
