205 GTI 1.9 clutch cable length
Discussion
Hi,
Clutch cable has snapped on the old girl. I went to get a replacement and was told that there were two different lengths... Sooo need to find out which is which and first port of call was here. I have an F reg with no power steering if that helps.
Also is it an easy job? I was just going to unbolt the pedal, attach new wire to the old one and pull it through. Attach to pedal and then attach the other end... looks very easy.
Thanks,
Pest

There are different types but your Vin or Reg` number should tell the parts supplier which one it is.If I remember an "F" reg` has a plain cable with a manual adjuster on top of the gear box? I expect a Peugeot Dealer will go all cold on a car that age,you need a Peugeot specialist who knows the old Pugs.Try Dean Hunter www.peugeotparts.co.uk he is a Peugeot expert. Its a really awkward fiddly standing on your head job pedal end and also removing/locating the outer cable through the bulk head is tricky.
I did this on a friends car many years ago was a bit of a pain, but I can't remember if it was a 1.6 or a 1.9 but anyway when I was doing the job I could not work out why the cluch release arm was not working and the cable was slack, its was like something was missing. After visiting a dealer I found that the was a round metal bar about an inch or so long thats only held in by the pressure of a fitted cable so when it snaps this bar just falls out? Its was £1 or something but have never come across that before...

You have reminded me TorqueTalk. That rod is in the adjusting bit I was talking about. It`s all coming back to me.We used to rally these 25yrs ago and wrapped a huge elastic band around that lever to stop the push rod dropping out as it can also drop out if you lift UP the clutch pedal.Gassing Station | French Bred | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
