Dear all

my 182 needs a new rear bearing so i've advised to changes the rear brakes as they contain bearings and they need changing anyway. Looking at the k-tec website they do renault parts for 142 quid excl pads it seems or they have k-tec uprated discs and pads for 150 quid.

So has anyone used these discs and pads before? Will the wear rate be different to the renault parts which in all fairness have lasted nearly 8 years and 55k miles?

Also, are rear discs and pads easy to change?

Thanks all

The rear brakes on the 182 do very little work so standard equipment is more than up to the job.

You can buy genuine discs and pads for £117 delivered from a renault dealer on ebay.

Fitting is very easy, you have two (18mm i think) nuts to remove the pad carrier which allows you to change the pads and also remove the disc, the disc comes off by removing the hub nut (30 or 32mm can't quite remember) this nut needs to be torqued up to 175nm when refitting. The pistons on the rear calliper will also need to be wound back in, there is a special tool for this but just so long as the callipers are in good condition you can use the length of a screw driver to wind the piston back in.

Not a lot to add but thanks for posting that! Good prices on the stuff in his shop.

They're my local Renault dealer and are great to deal with, very good on prices too.

I've used k-tec before and have no complaints BUT you really need to watch their prices as some items are just ridiculously over priced.

For brakes, go to Kam racing. Cheapest for everything generally.

Don't forget that you may need to adjust the preload (?) on the rear pads if you've had your handbrake adjusted - otherwise the new, thicker pads won't fit in the caliper.
