Does anybody know if its possible to get hold of a 2008 Pug207 HDI O/S headlight bulb retaining spring without having to pay £210 for the whole headlight unit?

You might find that other Peugeots/Citroens have the same part. My 306 has a circular kind of spring that you push over a hook to clip it on. May open up a few more options.

Failing that, I'd be tempted to bodge it with a wire coathanger cut and bent to shape.

It's the shape of an 'n', well sort of. If I cannot source one I'm going for a paper clip.

So today I have it serviced and I'm told I have a noisy starter... £350?

A rusty band on my exhaust... £300ish

So add £270 for the light and the £190 for the main service you can see why in not taking this to well.

Are you getting all these quotes from a Peugeot dealer!? Trust me if you are find an independant garage you can trust. Peugeot have a notorious reputation of charging a fortune for making your car worse.

Plus as someone else has said a lot of Peugeot and Citroen cars share a lot of common parts as they're all PSA group cars.

Yes they are quotes from a dealer. I'm shocked why you cannot buy a simple part, seems a right money making racket to me.

I rack up 100 miles a day in my little work hack and I need it to be faultless.

Try frenchspare 01777817070 for used spares. The band for the silencer will have to be repaired or made from scratch,or a non genuine silencer fitted.I see prices like this all the time.I had a woman with ac3 quoted £1300 .The work i deemed neccesary came to £150 from me.

They say things for TVR are expensive but bloody hell my little pug beats it into a cocked hat.

Could a band be simply welded on?

Easy, its only a bit of tin. We must repair 3 or 4 a month, not a long job I don't warrant it.
