Morning PH'ers,

Currently i own a Renault Scenic, it's my second car, my first was a 1.2 punto. It's safe to say that i hav'nt owned anything car wise of anything remotely nice to look at or fast!
With my next car theres currently 2 cars, that are worlds apart in comparison terms but are realyl the only 2 cars that stand out for me that 'i want' at the moment.
A Megane 225 & a Alfa GT Coupe, the GT looks amazing, but on paper the 225 looks like a lot of car for the money (even though it's french).
I'm no newbie to speed having had a form of sportsbike for the past 5 years, the next car will be bought to replace the car & the bike so it needs to be something that floats my boat.
I'm after real world expeirences of owners of the 225's.
I'm not going to be buying for another 5/6 months but i like to plan ahead.
The Alfa is going to be slightly better on fuel as i'd be going for the 1.9 diesel, insurance would'nt be a world apart, i'd imagine the Renault would cost more on RT?
I was just after experiences as to whether they are complete pants or if they're as good as they look VFM wise on paper?

I've just got shot of my f1 team 230. Technically and performance wise they're stunning, and can keep up with most things out there, two main negatives to think about

1. Lack of driver involvement, the cars are so good, there's little needed from the driver, no sense of 'involvement' and definitely no sense of excitement

2. Fuel costs are appalling, driving like Miss Daisy I could just about manage around 25mpg, normal driving around 21mpg, and spirited driving probably under 20mpg. (A real world mixture of motorway, urban, rush hour journeys)

Also make sure you have a warranty to help with any repairs, which aren't cheap.

The early 225 was pretty poor. Not very hot hatch.

The R26 is a different kettle of fish and a bloody awesome car.

If you didn't feel involved in the F1 then you wasn't pushing it hard enough!

If you buy a 225 then I bet you'll spend money trying to improve it. Where as the R26 is just awesome. Even better after a remap.
