My Alfa 156 GTA has spat the dummy for the 3rd time this year, and Im starting to feel like I have had enough of it.

I really like the C6, and have seen a very very cheap one on the bay, and wondered if, at 28 with no kids etc, if I was too young to own one?

Your thought please

Try an insurance quote from one of the aggregator sites (compare the market, etc). Not sure what the 2.2 diesel is like, but the 2.7 diesel is high. Being over 25 I can't see you being refused, but you might be surprised at just how much they will want (probably down to exclusivity and citron's poor reputation).

Might also be worth looking at http://c6owners.org/news.php - I only found it after I'd decided to go for mine 9which I pick up tomorrow)

Insurance is around the same as my 156, so no problems there. Still worry its a bit "old man" for me tho?

If you like it, get it. Who the heck cares what anyone else thinks. It's your car and you driving it no one else. Or are you a sheep? wink

As someone who drove around in a Daimler Sovereign at 18, I'm probably the wrong person to answer this question! hehe
In all seriousness though, as has already been said, if you like it - who cares?

JFDI.

Amazing cars - but they were just out of my price range when I had a car allowance rather than a company car.

Has to be a top spec. 2.7TTDI, though. Not some crappy 4-pot fleet spec. car.

Well I missed out on the eBay one by 55 quid, only being outbid by 30 seconds. Rather annoying, as its back on eBay today, for sale from the same person, for 6k. EBay really annoys me.

Your not too young

But it will cost you alot more than 6K in the long run.

Never buy the cheapest of anything, its a false economy.

C6 is a gorgeous, unusual and sophisticated car, I would buy one in a heartbeat, but I would look for about £10-12k for a nice clean medium miler.

I'm 28 and have had mine two years (2.7 Exclusive). Some people think it's weird and then have the audacity to climb into some hateful eurobox in front of me. Deep down everyone loves it. But what do I know, I still shoot polaroids.

My insurance isn't too bad (£800 last year) and tax is high (£405) and tires/fuel aren't cheap, but who cares. Make hay whilst the sun shines. Life is too short to worry over a few hundred quid for something you REALLY want.

At the end of the day you can just follow the excellent example we are all being set by Greece and indeed the UK when it comes to spending.

Let us know if you get one and be sure to check out my thread here http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Oh and I would be careful for 6K. I paid twice that and made sure mine was a cracker with all the toys like the reclining rear seats. You could of course be lucky. Check out the C6 forum if you haven't already @c6owners

psst, I just turned 24 and like them (since they came out in fact). I think I would seriously look into buying one if I had to do more motorway driving.
