Peugeot 106 running rough

Got myself a tidy little 106 1400cc 96 plate.
Ran fine until the oil light came on, when straight down the garage and chucked some oil in (10-40w) I think...But just before and ever since, it splutters, but only if I put my foot down hardish, or flat...If I put it down flat, no power....
Just wondering..
