Hi all

I'm considering getting a 207 THP 175 at some point in the near future. I'd like to find out from current owners their impressions of the car and how they have been to live with. Not really interested in replies of you should get this instead or that, I want to know specifically about the 207.

I test drove one some time ago and other than the horrid electric steering I quite liked it. I've had both 206 GTi and 180 models before so I know what they are like to drive, currently have a 206 HDi which I'm running alongside my TVR. Eventually this would replace them both.

I'd be very interested to hear from current owners and what good and bad points they have found. How are they cruising at motorway speeds, what sort of fuel consumption do you get etc?

Its entirely possible I may end up going for something else but these seem to be dropping in value nicely, are well specced and whilst they wont set the earth on fire in terms of performance it will be enough for me (to start with!!)

Cheers thumbup

This is of no help to you but my opinion on them...

I think they're bloody lovely and massively over looked. I've never driven one but I know the engine is a peach and is easily tuneable. The interior is fantastic considering it's French heritage and the seats help massively! I sat in one at a certain car supermarket and I liked how easy it was to get comfortable. You can get the seat down quite low although the steering wheel is on the large side. A big improvement over the 206 though.

I've driven my girlfriends 207cc GT 120 and it seems a nice drive with decent road holding and not a lot of roll.

I imagine the GTI to be better but if you're of the ilk who like to fettle then I'm sure it can be improved even more.

I like the looks as well. They look very fresh and I think they'll age well.

They do seem to be bargains especially compared with other hot hatches of similar age.

I'd be keen to hear what owners think.

Not owned one but considered one a while back test drove three different cars and the verdict was great seats (as already mentioned) pretty good spec (with the Octane pack) quite frugal and that's about it really
The car is just too big didn't feel as quick as the 175hp suggests handled ok but again not brilliant (have since driven a GT150 model and didn't really feel any slower than the GTi) hth

A mate of mine has one and has had so much trouble with the engine its unreal and I mean thousands spent with turbo problems, cylinder head going at 45,000, cat going after just 30,000.

It has the engine out of the R53 Cooper S which also has some problems so you may want to do some research on this car as well as the 207.

Hi guys i'm new to the site,

I've had a 207 GTI for about four months or so now. I've worked for Peugeot since 2007 so ever since they were came out.

Always wanted one I changed my Seat Leon Curpra R 03 plate with Revo stage 1 got to 98k and had it for 2 years.

The 207 is a great car a good halfway house in looks not to boyed up that everyone races you and the ride i find in my opinon is very good. I will just say alot of people do disagree but were all different.

I do 40 miles a day in my car get ave 38 mpg which I can't complain about. The only mod i've had is a Evo chip done on the car so its 197bhp other than that its standard.

So imo I think they are great cars have tried alot of others doing the job I do such as the Clio the Corsa but the pug ticks all the boxes for me.

Good car just not very inspiring. Fast and I like subdued looks too.

I've got a GTI and i have to say it's brilliant apart from it's reliability which is unreal, i have never known anything to be so fragile!

With a repair bill at around £5k in a year and a half you need fairly deep pockets.

I have a thread in the readers cars section if you want to have a peak, needs updating as alot has gone on recently modification wise in my quest for big power!

Quick update, I've gone a slightly different way and bought a 206 GTi 180. Too many tales of engine issues on 207's has kind of put me off them a little. And this way the car is cheaper to buy in the first place so should anything go wrong I've got a bit of extra cash in my pocket.

I've owned a 180 before so know exactly what they are like. Mines in black with full SP pack.

Good choice! I am biased, though.

I ran my GTi180 for three and a half years and loved every minute of it.

The only reason I sold it was because it was very difficult to get my baby daughter(at the time) into the rear seat.

I had an extended test drive of the 207 THP175, and it felt so slow and "breathless" compared to the 180. There are so many people knock the 180, but as far as I'm concerned, it was probably the most enjoyable car I've ever owned. Certainly the most smiles per mile.

Enjoy yours...I'm sure you will. (great colour choice, btw wink)
