Hey guys,

I have a megane which is suffering from the well known issues with windows, window regulators etc. Renault had been offering subsidised replacements for the guilty parts but I understand that this has ceased to be the case thanks to the supplier being located within a radioactive region of Japan! Renault have told me that they will do their best to fix the existing parts but cannot guarantee anything. So, what on earth else can you do? It seems a bit shocking to tell the owner of a 5 year old car that the window is broken and cannot be fixed!!

Thanks

Parts are becoming available again now, we had a delivery this week of regulators, so maybe worth a call again to your dealer.

Not really the case, they can be fixed, just as soon as parts become available again. Renault are not the only manufacturers affected by the recent happenings in Japan. The factory that used to supply components to many electronics companies was destroyed, amongst many other things.
Some regulators are becoming available again, mostly without the electronic module though. If yours has failed electrically rather than a broken cable try searching the internet, someone is claiming that they can repair the units. Failing that swap a module from side to side or rear, most are interchangeable. They will be available again, `Til then tough it out and think yourself lucky that you wern`t there when it happened. Its only a window/car after all.
