Clio 200 Silverstone Edition...
Discussion
Hi all,
Random plug here for a cracking car...
I drive a 172 so I'm already fond of the RS brand, whilst out car shopping for the mrs we popped in to the Renault Dealer.
They had a Silverstone Edition 200 in so I had a look... Wow!
It looked amazing on the Speedlines, the inside was a very nice place to be and it felt lovely in the Recaro's... the steering wheel felt particularly nice!
So I was having a look at the Figures... £999 deposit, £299 per month over 3.5 years... Car is £20k!!!!!!! So that means it's cost you £13.5k for 3.5 years... that seems very close to the depreciation bearing in mind you can get 10 plate 200's for little more than £10k.
Unfortunately the RS Specialist wasn't there so the guy didn't know to much about them but it's made me look at them for my next car.
What is "the" spec to have though? Am I right in thinking...
Cup Chassis - Stripped out, no toys, st interior.
200 with Cup Packs - Plus Recaro's = The one to get???????
I was very very impressed... When you consider a bog spec Citroen DS3 was £280 per month with a £2k deposit over 3 years - Car is £4/5k less in the first place....

That version does not have any performance mods/extras. I have the so called full fat which is the model with all the gadgets (auto most things and key less entry etc) and also the cup set up. As you say you can pick them up for close to £10k one to two years old so why pay £20k....
There is a lot more info over on the RS forums.
Great cars though for a huge grin on your face...

Don't get me wrong, shelling out £20k on a clio is plain stupid imo... but I fancy a new car, full warranty, no MOT's, no one elses farts inbedded in my Recaro's...
So if they're losing that much money in the first / second year imagine what they're gonna be in 3.5 years. Man maths... it seems like a bargain!
I wouldn't go for the Silverstone edition though, I'd want a Full Fat one with keyless go, auto wipers / lights and definitely xenon's and Recaro's... I'd like Leather Recaro's but I imagaine that would be a big optional extra.

you dont get xenons on the new 200's by the way. i have the adaptive headlight thingy magigs and the look like xenons and are very good..
also i had this canumdrum myself and when looking at the decent second hand cars with the spec you want your talking a lot of money 16k the one i was close to buying at a year old. i ended up spending a little more but getting brand new with 0% finance which will save a couple of thousand over the three years i have it. go for it, the silverstone looks like a lovely motor. but if you want all the toys like me you might be better speccing cup chassis on a gordini like mine

The Silverstone is based on a regular 200 which consists of auto A/C, Keyless entry, auto lights and wipers and electric mirrors with the adition of Speedlines, Recaros, Cup chassis, bluetooth and privacy glass. You also get a free trackday from Renault. With the finance packages from Renault it's well worth it.

So it's basically what I'd want minus the headlights plus it's a limited edition? May be it's not such a bad option! Crazy money for a 'special edition' that won't hold it's value.

Unless I've misunderstood the OP, £13.5k for a new one is pretty good going.
the price of the car is 20k, but its on some kind of PCP and the payments add up to 13.5k assuming he just gives them the car back at the end of the term. effectivley he is renting the car for 3 years for 13 grandmichaelw3628 said:
All well and good buying a used example but if buying on the PCP scheme a new car can oddly work out cheaper tahn a used car and get the benefits of new!
I'm perfectly aware of that (hence my 200 being on a pcp). But I purchased when renault were doing a special deal on the pcp (£200 per month). In this situation he could pay £13.5k to rent one for 3 yrs, or pay £13.5k to buy a lightly soiled one outright.

Over what period do you pay £200 and what deposit did you give???In this situation he could pay £13.5k to rent one for 3 yrs, or pay £13.5k to buy a lightly soiled one outright.
I appreciate £13.5k sounds a lot to "rent" it but if I want a brand spanking new car (which I kinda do) then I'd probably lose that over 3 years anyway.
So I could give £20k and own it, 3 years later I get offer £8k. So it's cost me £12k to own it. Or, I could do it in a much easier way, spend a bit more (£500 per year, not a lot really) and not have to worry about it's resale value.
It makes sense to me and I look forward to getting one in the not so distant future (hopefully).
I appreciate that £13.5k could buy me a nice 2nd hand one, but if you want new then you want new!
(I'd be very tempted by the leather option... not a loverof the yellow cloth on the recaro's).
£200 is possible even today but all depends on spec and deposit. Think of it this way. If you are financing over 36 months, by adding £350 to your finance will mean you would add £10 per month to your payment.
The payments can also increase if you put NIL deposit in but also bear in mind the payments also differ depending on your mileage. If you're doing 10 or 12K miles P/A the payments will rise also. The quote you referred to earlier is based on 6K.
As for the leather,try http://www.trimtechnik.co.uk/renault/prices.html

I did misunderstand then! Thought it seemed cheap. What can you get them for these days new? I mean my 197 was £17.5k list, but I paid just under £14.5k. Be better off trying to strike a deal or go used imo.
