Been looking for a 197 with Cup chassis, and can't seem to find what I want.

Plenty around, but quite fussy about Spec:

- 197, ideally + Cup chassis
- 2008 MY onwards (for later gearbox, etc)
- Must have aircon and rake + height adjustable steering column
- Prefer solid blue or white or, maybe red.
- Clean, excellent, original condition (no invasive mods)
- Mileage - up to 30k
- Full history (ideally Renault Sport)
- £8,000 (ish)

Any thoughts?

i drive a 56 plate none cup but sat on kw v1s as an every day car, and tbh its no good.

its loud
st radio
very very expensive, £70 every 2-3 days in petrol, guzzles oil too. and servicing is that of a Maserati, i should know as i have a gran sport too,
It would be good for the track and weekend, but it at the end of the day is a renault, with a diffuser.

I have done 40k in mine in about a year of ownership and the previous owner loved it, as did i at first, but please dont buy one if its for every day use as it will cripple you, i do well for myself good wage and nice lifestyle but i cant afford it, Im in the last steps of purchasing a 123d instead.

Your my piece though.

Thanks Chowiekid.

I'm looking at the 197 as a genuine modern '205 GTi' - small, bit of fun and fizz. Not main car, and understand '08> better gearing and economy.

Did consider a 1-series BMW - probably the smallest, practical, rwd on the market.

Not sure what must be wrong with Chowie's.

Mine's an '08 with the revised 'box. MPG I get from mine on mostly urban driving is about 26mpg. It'll do over 30 easily on the motorway. Mine drinks NO oil whatsoever, but then I ran mine in properly, not according to the handbook.

Suspension's a bit crashy with the Cup chassis but it has its merits most of the time. Build's pretty good, quality of materials in the non-Cup cars is pretty bloody good - for a Renault!

I earn an ok wage and have no troubles funding it. But then I don't think 40k a year is normal use, especially not for a hot hatch. Mine's just about to clock up 40k in 40 months (12k a year which I'd say is average)

Thinking of getting rid now though as this is by far the longest I've owned a car!

I realise this is the wrong year and slightly over the mileage:

It'll be easier to sell on when the time comes though, just need the alloys refurbed (lazy seller!)

Prefer a standard 197 with the Cup option, as I gather this has the rake and height adjustable steering column. And, despite the possible merits, don't want any non-standard mods.

Mervin, yours is a bit higher on the miles, but by all means send me the full spec and any pics, etc mvc@fly7.co.uk
