Just an annoying niggle, but one (depending on severity) I'd like to fix. Upon starting the car the car often indicates left until I move the indicator stalk from the centre-position and back. Is this likely to be a new stalk job, or more severe (loom, etc)?

I'm guessing one of the less reliable post-01 models with multiplex wiring. You can reset the BSI unit which may help - google it the instructions are out there.
Or a new indicator stalkl shouldn't cost too much even as a diagnostic step. But I bet the problem is in the BSI unit or it's connected systems...

Sorry, I should have specified - it's a 2001 y-reg (GTi 138 if that makes a difference). I'll google the BSI bit and report back whether it works. Thanks smile

IIRC on post 2000 models both the stalk switches are built together in whats known as a Comms unit which costs a couple of hundred quid.

Did the BSI reset (or think I did, varying instructions and all seem like a slightly off translation), indicator issue is still there. Might have fixed the freaky AC, but too early to be certain.
