Peugeot 106 independence 1.1i loss of power
Discussion
I have a X reg Peugeot 106 1.1i independence
At 60 mph i get a loss of power and now and again i get it at lower speed. i also get a flat spot at 4-5k rpm.
I been to a garage and 3 scrapyards abd each place said its the airflow meter. Been and got one the tickover is better and it pulls better but i still get that power loss and flat spot. Anyone here knows my problem?
It makes a noice round the airflow meter area then i turn the car off.
I have changed the air filter and as you can tell is has not worked.

Hi,
Sorry not much of a helpful answer here - but i used to have a 106 1.1 Zest2 - 2000/W reg - my first car and it had similar issues.
But it's an old school French car and one day just seemed to sort this problem out only to develop another.
I'd go as far as saying it was the most 'characterful' car that i've ever owned and moving to dull company cars not longer after that made life boring and slightly more predictable!
Has yours started the great kangaroo bounce yet?
My cousin bought mine off me in Sept 2003 with 74k on it - and kept it 'bouncin' for about 3-4 yrs until it was well over the 100k mark.
Wonder if it's still soldiering on!?

ECU's rarely fail on these. May be worth seeing if it'll accept an OBDII reader (not all the pre 2001 cars do, but some will usually if they have a Bosch ECU).
It could be coolant sensor, or even a vacuum pipe. Can't discount the ECU, but unless everything else has been extensively checked I wouldn't go for one yet. Besides, they're coded, so unless it's been unlocked you'll need the key and reciever unit for the steering lock.
