I have a ph2 172 which came standard (in Europe at least) with 195/45/16 tyres.

the 182 then had 205/45/16 as standard.

It is tyre replacement time and as I have speedline turini wheels, same as the 182 trophy, wondered if I should go with the 205/45/16 size.

Does anyone have experience with a ph2 172 with the 182 size wheels/tyres? any known issues?

Interestingly, the 172 actually was delivered in australia with 195/50/15 on the same style wheel as the 16s delivered in Europe, don't know why.

cheers

John D.

You can run 205 width. I've never done it but I know many do. Michelin PE2 were quite hard to get hold of in 195/45/16 at one time, I sort them out as I wanted to stick to OE size on my 172 Cup. The 182 came with that size standard IIRC, which prompted 172 drivers to follow suit.

The only issue you may have is rubbing on lock, since I know your car is lowered.

That said, I doubt it because I know plenty of guys run 205/45/16 on lowered 182's/172's with no issue.

PE2's have been discontinued in 205/45/16 I think, with Pilot Sport 3's being the recommended replacement.

Stick to the 195's. After doing some searching on cliosport it seems they drive better on te 195's. For ultimate grip on the limit go 205. But the rest of the time your lugging extra tyre around for no gain.

Iv'e just gone from Pirelli P-zero nero to Michelin ps3's. Better ride, nicer feel and deffinatly more inspiring although I did get the alignment done at the same time soo that would have made a nice difference.

Toyo T1-Rs work really well on Clios, just keep the pressures a bit higher due to soft sidewalls. They are cheap too, paid just over £60 fitted for my last pair a month or so ago.

i've gone for 205s this time, on order. i will see how it goes, I am not a fan of over-tyreing (is that a word) cars, but i can always change back for the next batch.

will report back with impressions
