I have a very loud metallic 'crack/click' noise coming from the rear suspension - seems more camber related than road surface & appears to be from both sides or is transferring from side to side. (Car is an '02 C5 Estate.)
My mechanic has had a quick look & there's nothing obvious.....it's going to be looked at in more depth later this week, but I don't want my workshop hack taking root in my workshop! Any ideas please?
Thanks in advance, Al.

Haven't climbed under a C5 to know what rear suspension layout they use, but the BXs and Xantias use a trailing arm setup. The arms swing on a metal sleeve with a bearing at each end. These dry out and wear through the sleeve after a lengthy period of time, causing creaking and excessive camber.

The hydropneumatic side of the suspension on a C5 is different to the the BX and Xantia (and anything else other than the C6 as it goes) but if it still uses trailing arms that could be the issue. It's pretty common on the BX and Xantia and apart from being a pain in the arse, is a relatively cheap fix (aslong as the bearing races haven't eaten into the arm itself!)
