Hoping the more knowledgeable members can give some advice/guidance.

My brother has an X-reg 1.1 litre Peugeot 106 which, for the last few months, has been shaking when he drives.

Most of his driving is local so it happens at modest speeds of 30/40 mph.

He took it to a mechanic who diagnosed and did the following but the problem remains:

1) Throttle body: Cleaned and then replaced
2) Coil pack: One coil pack replaced
3) Spark plugs: All replaced

Anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem may be?

Also, can anyone recommend a good Peugeot specialist in the Slough, Berkshire area?

After spending £200'ish trying to solve the problem my brother is keen to get it sorted particularly as he relies on his car for his job.

TIA.

'shaking' is pretty non specific, does it vary with speed?

I don't know why your mechanic has been looking at the engine, obvious place to start is looking at the wheel balancing, if they're out of balance the car will shake badly at speed.

other than that CV joints as suggested, or maybe suspension bushes.

What is shaking? What ever it is its still there so have a "word" with your mechanic!!! he has replaced components unnecessarily and hasn't fixed the fault. If the gear lever and whole car shakes when accelerating I expect it will be the right hand drive shaft?they also brake the top right hand engine mount?

Apologies for not being more specific - my original post was based on a brief conversation with my brother.

I will be seeing him again mid-week and will take his car for a spin and update this post thereafter.
