peugeot hdi diesal ??
Discussion
hi peeps just joint pistonheads and was wondering if anyone could help me out as i am thinking of buying a 1.4 hdi due to the supposed value you get for fuel. whats the average you normally get mpg ? as i drive a lot especially around ciy centres and how much does it cost to get a full tank?. the only other reason i am bit concerned is sure its slow as hell but its still a 1.4 and will it cripple me insurance wise as i am only 18
cheers peeps

I've got a 1.6HDI Citroen but they share engines. round town I get 51+ mpg if I run around country side I'm disappointed if I get less than 64mpg and on a hundred mile motorway trip plodding along at constant 57 I've seen 74mpg.
Now to get these mpgs you have to drive real carefully but instead of playing how fast can I go I play how far can I go. I don't have to worry about cameras and tickets. Then I usually blow it all on a damned good blast around a track at often well over 150mph in the Deronda.
I'd definitely recommend a diesel they are great for towing a fun car to a track. Get one with a trip computer though it'll give you something to compete against, the fuel meter
