Can anyone confirm whether the wheel bolts for steel wheels are the same, length & shoulder, as those for original equipment ali wheels.
Kind of think they must be longer but nor sure.

Yep, rule of thumb if you want to replace your standard steels with alloys you will need flat washered bolts.

100% you will need flat faced wheel bolts, make sure you obviously get 306 ones aswell as not any old Peugeot flat wheel bolts will do as I unfortunately found out the hard way when my wheel fell off at 30mph!!!

That puts up the price of second hand wheels then. Any guide as to how much a set of 16 will cost?

9 times out of 10 if you go the scrapyard where they take the wheels off they just dump them in the footwells before they are placed in the yard, then they are really cheap if you can find a 306 there.
Failing that and wanting new ones there is always eBay or Peugeot themselves which i have noticed have become much more competative with motor factors, new injector for 106 gti at motor factors was £90 and only £70 Genuine peugeot so just have a good look around for cheapest place mate.
