Here are a couple of subs I've recently completed.

HMS Triumph, from the Airfix 1/350th kit. I straightened the periscopes after taking the phots, DOH!

An Akula class sub, again 1/350th

Here are the Russian Typhoon class, (top), Akula class, (middle) and our T-Class subs, just to give an idea of scale.

I had no idea the Russian subs were so big!

Great models as usual.

Did you know that the Matryoshka class submarine carries a Typhoon class inside it, with an Akula classs inside that, and an Trafalgar class equivalent inside that, and so on until at the core is one of those little one-man submarines?

Bloody clever those Russians.

Missile subs are generally much bigger than the hunter/attack subs like the T-class

A US Ohio or UK Vanguard class sub is much more comparable to the russian Typhoon

On saying that the Akula is still quite a big beastie...

Great models though, loving the weathering on the Akula biggrin

Another one finished for the collection. It's the Bronco 1/350th Kilo class.

Looks great. How do you mark out the waterline demarcation for masking? Is it moulded into the hull?

Some kits do have the waterline moulded on. But in this case it's doing quite a bit of research and looking at lots of photos.

What I was getting at was: on a compound curved surface, how do you mark a line that looks horizontal when viewed from the side? I tried marking a BAE146 fuselage using a pencil resting on a book and scribing it around the fuselage, but it was so tricky I ended up masking it by eye. Just wondered if there was a 'trick'.

No trick, just note where the start and finish points are and follow the sweep of the fuselage/hull with the first run of narrow tape, I use 3mm.

I would love to do a 688, if only for the fact it was the first, (and one of the best), sub sims I played. I've got one in the stash in 1/700, but if I can find one in 1/350th then that would be great. I'm currently painting HMS Vanguard then will probably build the USS Seawolf.

Revell used to make a (Los Angeles?) Polaris boat with a full interior - I built one in the mid 70's.

I believe it was the George Washington. I've got the Andrew Jackson also with interior. BTW they are not Los Angeles as they are attack boats.

Have completed a few more subs. Yes I know the Vanguard undersides are too light, but the instructions weren't clear so, as I stated on Britmodeller, I'm claiming artistic licence.

Bronco 1/350th HMS Vanguard

Zvezda 1/350th Oscar II class

Bronco 1/350th USS Seawolf

How do you manage to complete so many models, to that standard in that timescale?

Some nice models there Shar. Love the Russian boats

Couple of observations on the T and V boats. Way too shiny, and given the rest are weathered, you need to match the missing tile look. When you see her up close she looks tired.
