My dad has just been given a "Pilot" brand balsa wood kit to build a Piper Cub replica. There is a Sanwa remote control, petrol engine and all the other bits and bobs to build the plane. Doesn't look like any of it has ever been out of the box.

I'd say it was around 25 years old judging from the packaging. As neither of us have any use for it could you tell me what it might fetch if it was put on ebay or can you recommend a good place to sell it.

Thanks.

If using E-bay, I would suggest you sell it as seperate lots, i.e. airframe, engine, electrics.

If the radio gear is as old as you say it is then it doesn't have a great value, technology has advanced enormously during this time. However the airframe could fetch a reasonable sum, same with the engine.

Alternative site to sell on could be the BMFA website.

TBH old kits have limited value generally, the radio will be either 27 or 35 Mhz A lot of this market has been killed by the Ready To Fly market at silly money. Pilot kits were OK in their day.
If you write an E Bay ad it needs to be correct, for instance it is Radio Control & it is a Glow engine, describing it correctly will improve its value.
I could for instance be interested in the Sanwa gear as I've got some early stuff, where are you?

Thanks for the advice folks. Yes, I know it should be radio control, had mild brain freeze when postingspin.

I live in South London, my dad and the plane are near Lichfield, Staffs.
