OK, before I start, all IMHO here but the HPI is a much better product. My Marder was forever breaking. In fact, I didn't ever manage to complete ONE tank of fuel (about half an hour runtime) without it being broken to the point of me having to order new parts (usually pinion / spure / diff). They go well but on the rough stuff the standard car simply cannot ben thrapped mercilessly as the torque reversals kill the drivetrain.
Having played with an HPI I can confim that although not quite as perky as a Marder they are infinitely more usable int he fact that yu don't have to have a cache of spares with you at all times.
HPI are I believe better represented in the UK spares-wise as well.

I bought my son a HPI Baja for his 15th birthday He is 16 next week and has absolutely thrashed his car from day 1 during this time I have only had to replace the planet gears in the diff and uprated drive shafts as one bent when the diff let go at high speed. when I stipped the diff there was no oil in it so to be fair its not the machines fault but the guy who put it together.its still going strong and has had some rough usageincluding the odd high speed summersaults.it just amazes me how it just keeps coming back for more.

Does anyone make a 4wd 1:5 scale?
Anthing you want to know about 1/5 can be found via these people who are 1/5 specialistshttp://www.kingcobra.co.uk/
One or two of the MCDs are 4x4's
One thing you don't want to do is get in the way of one!
